To fake it or not to fake it?
The divide between the real-plant people vs the fake-plant people is real! The debate is as old as the indoor-outdoor decor trend itself. I personally LOVE real plants for my home. The energy of having a living, breathing (air purifying) piece of nature in your space with you is absolutely my jam. However, there are so many reasons I actually opt for the imposter versions whenever I design for clients. Most notably, they can’t kill it.
This space was a client’s second home, and much like my AirBnB clients who are not in their own spaces consistently, I usually seek out the lowest maintenance option possible. Today the look and materials of the faux options have advanced lightyears beyond the dust-collection silk ones our grandmothers once stuffed above their kitchen cabinets. This one from West Elm is linked below (now also comes in a larger size!), but I also included a few of my favorite faux options in different price points that I’ve put in my AirBnB spaces!
Let me know if there’s a specific look, style, size or plant type you want a good faux look for and I’ll send you options!
**Update: Some items shown here are no longer available to shop online, so below I've listed several alternatives at all different price points so you can get the look from "splurge" to "steal"!
